Gallery of the Centre for Intercultural Creative Initiatives "Rozdroża" in Lublin
The exhibition presented the works of Ukrainian artists who worked on the creation of theatre costumes at different times.
These are famous twentieth-century artists who made a great contribution to the development of Ukrainian art, including Vadym Meller (1884-1962), Anatol Petrytskyi (1895-1964), and Myron Kyprian (1930-2019). Their work is represented by a selection of museum photographs.
Contemporary artists in whose work theatrical costume occupies an important place. These are artists who work in state national and municipal theatres all over Ukraine, as well as implement high-profile independent art projects. At the same time, the works of artists of different generations, regions, schools and styles are presented: Hanna Ipatieva, Olena Polishchuk, Danyila Kolot, Natalia Rydvanetska, Oleh Tatarinov, Liubov Dushyna, Inessa Kulchytska and project curator Bohdan Polishchuk.
As well as talented students who are starting their professional career today: Vasilina Bezherianu, Anna Mashkovska, Maria Chornoshkur, Kateryna Marchenko, Kateryna Tyshchenko.
The exhibition featured photographs from the performances, original costume sketches and realised costumes.
This exhibition allows us to trace the various manifestations and stages of development of theatrical costume in Ukraine, and shows how artistic processes took place in Ukraine during the war.
The exhibition is part of an international project implemented by the Scenography Gallery NGO (Ukraine) in partnership with the Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema of Ukraine, the PLACE ID Territorial Marketing Fund (Poland), in cooperation with the Rozdroża Centre for Intercultural Creative Initiatives, with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the Ukrainian Institute.
