Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography
The Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography is a large-scale international event launched by the Scenography Gallery in 2018. The Quadriennale takes place every four years and combines exhibition, educational and performative programs that bring together scenographers, performers, costume designers, art historians and theater critics and a wide audience from all over Ukraine and abroad for 3 days.
The main goal of the Quadriennale is to popularize and develop the art of scenography in Ukraine and to establish professional international communication.
The first “experimental” step was the Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography. Preview” in 2018. Four years later, the “Lviv Quadriennale of Scenography - 2021. Evolution through Revolution” took place.
Oleh Oneshchak, co-founder and director of the Quadriennale , believes that the work of a scenographer needs to be made visible, because usually people talk (and write) about directors and actors, while artists go unnoticed:
“We don't want to make the scenographer the main one, we rather want to emphasize his or her importance, to bring him or her out from behind the scenes.”
